About me

Hi, I’m Tash and my pronouns are she/her.

I am a consumer leader with 20 years of mental health service use and over 10 years experience in the lived and living experience (LLE) workforce. My passion is advocating for better support and treatment of consumer workers within Victorian mental health services, and connecting with workers 1:1 to provide them with a safe space to reflect on their practice.

As a person, I would consider myself curious, direct and compassionate. When I am not at work, you can find me on Bunurong land spending time with my dog, my family or watching shows about true crime. I also spend a considerable amount of time listening to music and find this a useful way to connect to the world around me.

My experience

I have held dedicated LLE leadership roles within clinical, community and not for profit mental health services.

• Consumer Peer Work Team Leader, Expanding Post Discharge Support Initiaitive – Monash Health.
• Peer Work Team Leader, Emergency Department Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Hub – Monash Health.
• Lived Experience Workforce Manager – Peninsula Health.
• Senior Peer Worker – Wellways.
• Lived and Living Experience Workforce Development Program Manager – VMIAC.

I also provide consumer representation on committees and working groups with Qlife (LGBTIQ+ Health Australia), the Mental Health Tribunal and the Women’s Recovery Network (WREN).

My training

I consider lived and living experience expertise the most important ‘qualification’ in lived and living experience work. I have several mental health diagnoses, am neurodivergent and am a person with disability.

My approach to supervision

My approach to supervision is based on connection, authenticity and mutual learning. I love to learn about people, their worldview and how their wellbeing is intertwined into their life and work.

My strengths include:
• Providing a safe space for supervisees to talk, feel heard and feel validated.
• Being a sounding board and providing second opinions.
• Reflecting on mental health and wellbeing at work.
• Discussing workplace rights.

Understanding that each person has individual needs and requirements from supervision, I am happy to be flexible in how supervision sessions are held. I personally enjoy an informal approach, however can co-create structured or semi-structured spaces to suit supervisee needs.
